ERTICO – ITS Europe has launched a Call for Tender inviting cities to host the ITS European Congresses in 2028 and 2029, as well as the 2030 ITS World Congress in the EMEA region. The deadline for submitting the initial Call for Interest is 13 February 2026.
The congresses represent the largest and most influential global events dedicated to intelligent transport systems and smart mobility. For more than three decades, the ITS Congresses have served as leading platforms for dialogue, innovation, and deployment in smart mobility, with each edition bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and innovators to explore solutions shaping the future of transport.

“For host cities, the Congress is far more than an event; it is an opportunity to become a genuine mobility living lab,” says Didier Gorteman, ERTICO chief financial and operations officer. “By enabling the showcase of its pilots, live demonstrations, and close cooperation with local, regional, and national authorities, the Congress leaves a visible and lasting legacy that strengthens a city’s role in Europe’s mobility transition.”
Host cities benefit from heightened international visibility, strengthened global cooperation, and significant economic impact, including increased investment opportunities and knowledge transfer. Hosting an ITS Congress positions a city at the forefront of intelligent transport, providing access to global stakeholders and meaningful knowledge exchange that supports real-world deployment and economic development.

The tendering procedure consists of two stages. Interested cities are invited to submit an Initial Call for Interest, which includes a Minimum Requirements document. Successful applicants will then be invited to participate in the second phase: a full tender submission.
The ITS Congresses have served as the benchmark gathering for intelligent transport since their founding in 1994. ERTICO – ITS Europe is a public–private partnership of over 120 companies and organisations that promotes the development and deployment of intelligent transport systems across Europe.
