ITS America Events has opened general registration for its 2026 Conference & Expo, set to take place 9-12 June at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan. Organised in partnership with RX Global, the event carries the theme “Empowering Innovation” and is expected to draw transportation leaders from across the public and private sectors.
The ITS America Conference & Expo is the largest annual gathering of intelligent transportation and technology professionals in North America. Over four days, attendees will explore how emerging technologies are being implemented and deployed to create safer, smarter, and more connected transportation systems.
The programme brings together industry experts, policymakers, researchers, and innovators to discuss the latest trends and strategies for advancing transportation infrastructure.
“Our 2026 gathering comes at a pivotal time when technology integration is revolutionising how people and goods move throughout our communities,” said Laura Chace, president and CEO of ITS America. “This year’s theme of “Empowering Innovation” reflects our industry’s commitment to driving solutions that make transportation systems safer and smarter, increasing connectivity across the nation. We invite professionals across the transportation ecosystem to join us in Detroit to shape the future of mobility.”
Detroit’s status as the birthplace of American automotive innovation provides a fitting backdrop for the conference. Educational sessions will span intelligent transportation systems, emerging vehicle technologies, smart infrastructure, data-driven mobility solutions, and accessible transportation.
Beyond the sessions, attendees can take part in workshops, networking events, and immersive tech tours of real-world ITS deployments across the city, supported by Michigan DOT and Integral Blue.
A standout feature of the programme is the Future Leaders Programme, sponsored by Southwest Research Institute, which challenges students and young professionals to examine AI’s transformative role in transportation while connecting them directly with industry pioneers. Plenary sessions led by industry visionaries and the popular state DOT roundtable discussions will also feature prominently throughout the event.
“The immersive tech demonstrations and behind-the-scenes tours will showcase real-world ITS deployments across Detroit,” said Jaime McAuley, event vice president at ITS America Events. “Industry visionaries will lead our plenary sessions while the popular state DOT roundtable discussions create a platform where transportation leaders can exchange implementation strategies and share valuable lessons from the field.”
