Sensys Gatso Australia has won a contract with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to supply and install next-generation traffic enforcement systems at existing red light camera sites across the state. The work includes upgrading the current camera enforcement systems and adding speed enforcement capability at the existing locations. Delivery is scheduled over the next six months.

Announced on 1 October 2026, the new systems will replace previous-generation Sensys Gatso technology and make use of existing site infrastructure. According to the company, this allows the latest technology to be rolled out efficiently and cost-effectively, without building new sites.

Sensys Gatso Australia is part of the Sensys Gatso Group, a traffic safety solutions provider. The company says the agreement extends its record of supporting Queensland’s road safety objectives.

Comment from Sensys Gatso

“This major contract is a strong endorsement of the trust Queensland has placed in Sensys Gatso and our ability to deliver innovation that works in the real world,” says Lew Miller, chief executive of Sensys Gatso Group. “Our continued success in Queensland reflects the strength of our technology, our local expertise and, most importantly, our commitment to being a dependable long-term partner to road authorities.”

Miller adds: “For Sensys Gatso, delivering on our trusted innovation promise is about more than introducing new technology. It is about continuously improving effective solutions and delivering them in a way that creates lasting value for our customers and safer roads for communities. We are proud to continue building on our strong position in Australia and to support Queensland’s ongoing road safety ambitions.”

Enzo Dri, managing director of Sensys Gatso Australia, says the project shows how the company combines innovation with practical delivery. “By upgrading existing sites and infrastructure, we can bring the latest Sensys Gatso technology to Queensland efficiently while continuing to support TMR’s road safety objectives,” he says.

“Our success in Queensland has been built on trust, performance, and a deep understanding of our customers’ needs. We are delighted to continue that relationship and contribute to safer road use across the state.”

Australian footprint

Sensys Gatso Australia provides integration, support and operational services to clients in every Australian jurisdiction. Its technology includes LIDAR (light detection and ranging) systems and multi-enforcement systems deployed on fixed and mobile platforms.

The company currently holds long-term maintenance and managed services relationships in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania and South Australia.

Sensys Gatso Group AB has employees and subsidiaries in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Sweden and the USA, plus a branch office in the United Arab Emirates. Its shares are listed on Nasdaq Stockholm under the symbol SGG.
