Applied Information’s Glance cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) roadside unit (RSU) has received certification from the OmniAir Consortium, following independent testing against industry standards for connected vehicle technology.
The company announced the certification on 20 October 2026. It follows the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification that Applied Information received for the same unit in July 2024.
What certification covers
According to Applied Information, the testing helps confirm that equipment from different manufacturers can communicate reliably and securely. For transportation agencies, the company says, certification gives added confidence when selecting equipment for connected vehicle projects, and supports efforts to use equipment from different manufacturers within the same network.
“OmniAir certification is a key part of our commitment to connected vehicle technology interoperability,” says Bryan Mulligan, president of Applied Information. “Transportation agencies need technology they can trust and systems that work together. This certification helps give agencies confidence as they bring connected vehicle technology to their communities.”

Unit specifications and applications
The Glance AI-500-095 C-V2X RSU enables traffic signals and other roadside equipment to communicate directly with vehicles fitted with compatible technology over the 5.9GHz band. These communications can provide drivers with information about traffic signals, road conditions and potential safety risks.
The unit supports applications including:
- Emergency vehicle preemption (EVP)
- Transit signal priority (TSP)
- Red-light warnings
- School zone safety alerts
Remote management and servicing
Agencies can remotely monitor and manage the AI-500-095 and its connected vehicle applications, and update its software, through the Glance platform, which also supports third-party RSUs.
The unit’s main components can be mounted closer to ground level than those of conventional RSUs. Applied Information says this makes servicing easier, without the need for a lift truck and lane closure.

About the organisations
OmniAir Consortium describes itself as an industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling and connected vehicles. Its members include public agencies, private companies, research institutions and independent test laboratories.
Applied Information began in 2011 by using Internet of Things technology to improve school zone safety. Its Glance technology combines hardware, software, communications, cloud computing and connected and autonomous vehicle applications.
