Peak Mobility will present Predictive Dispatching at InnoTrans 2026, an extension of its depot management system PEAK.DMS aimed at transport operators running mixed and electric bus fleets.
The solution links vehicle assignment, charging planning and depot parking across the entire operating day, allowing transport companies to identify potential conflicts early and make dispatching decisions on a more comprehensive data basis, according to Peak Mobility.
As the number of battery-electric buses in a fleet grows, so does the number of factors that interact in vehicle dispatching. Alongside the scheduled block, factors such as the current and forecast state of charge, charging windows, available charging points and parking position must all be considered, the company says. A vehicle assignment that works for the current block can therefore have implications for subsequent blocks or the first services of the following operating day.
“With every additional e-bus, the complexity of dispatching increases,” says Robert Baumeister, managing director of Peak Mobility. “For the control centre, it is crucial to make visible not only the current block, but also the consequences of a vehicle assignment for the rest of the operating day. Predictive Dispatching is designed to provide a forward-looking decision-making basis. Dispatching remains controllable; the system supports staff in selecting suitable vehicles and in carrying out necessary vehicle exchanges.”

From blocks to activity chains
At the core of the extension is the consolidation of multiple blocks into activity chains. For each vehicle assignment, the system checks whether a vehicle can cover the entire chain under the defined conditions, and forecasts the state of charge across the entire operating day. Charging breaks, typical charging capacities and defined buffer times are automatically factored in. If the forecast falls below the defined reserve, PEAK.DMS suggests an alternative vehicle for that chain.
The vehicle assignment is set up as an earmarking: vehicles are visibly scheduled for an activity chain but remain re-dispatchable for the control centre. The first blocks of the following operating day are also taken into account during depot parking, allowing dispatching to identify early which vehicles will require significant charging in the morning or need to be ready for service particularly early.

Peak Mobility lists three areas of day-to-day benefit: better system stability through predictive vehicle assignment, as the system evaluates complete activity chains, forecasts state of charge and remaining range, and flags supply gaps at an early stage; optimised charging and parking planning, with charging windows, staging times and next departure times considered together to avoid peak loads and bottlenecks in the depot; and streamlined automated dispatching, with automated suggestions supporting staff during disruptions and vehicle exchanges while remaining adjustable at any time.
