The world’s largest mobility and technology showcase returns for its biggest edition yet next  week, uniting expertise from around the globe to shape the future of smart, safe and sustainable transportation. Tom Stone gets insight from the organizers on new highlights, including a hugely expanded summit programme.

The 2026 edition of Intertraffic Amsterdam takes place 10-13 March at the RAI exhibition center, with some 30,000 transportation and mobility professionals from more than 140 countries expected to attend. More than 900 exhibitors from 55 countries will fill 12 halls, making this the largest show floor in the event’s history – which spans over 50 years.

As always, visitors can expect to discover the most recent trends and innovative solutions shaping the mobility sector, while taking advantage of unparalleled opportunities to connect with business leaders and government decision-makers.

“It will be a holistic showcase of sustainability-driven mobility technologies, covering everything from smart parking solutions…”

“It will be a holistic showcase of sustainability-driven mobility technologies, covering everything from smart parking solutions, infrastructure and green barriers to data-driven traffic systems, road safety and mobility solutions,” says Joyce de Winter, director of Intertraffic Worldwide Events, as she prepares for what promises to be the most ambitious Intertraffic Amsterdam to date. “We will have a good balance of the mobility ecosystem in visitors, speakers, and on the show floor.

“With more content, interactive sessions, demonstrations and targeted networking gatherings than ever before, the 2026 edition will deliver an even richer, more valuable experience for mobility professionals from both the public and private sectors.”

AI takes center stage

One theme will permeate every corner of this year’s event: the transformative influence of artificial intelligence and robotics on the mobility sector.

“What we see – through our global partners, our events in Mexico and China [Intertraffic held two groundbreaking expos in 2025 in Shanghai and Mexico City], and our advisory board – is that AI and robotics are increasingly becoming part of our industry,” says de Winter. “For some people, this topic can still feel unfamiliar. However, it is important for us at Intertraffic to bring this subject to our audience, because it is becoming a part of daily operations and everyday life.”

This focus on emerging technologies will be evident throughout the summit program, which has expanded dramatically for 2026. Where Intertraffic Amsterdam 2024 featured more than 200 experts delivering over 100 interactive theatre sessions, this year’s event raises the bar with more than 300 sessions planned across seven stages – three theatres in Hall 5 and another four spread across the event.

“In addition to the summit theatre program, we have added four open stages in individual halls.”

“In addition to the summit theatre program, which will focus on global challenges and insights with high-level keynotes and in-depth discussions from leading experts, city representatives, policymakers and innovators, we have added four open stages in individual halls,” confirms de Winter.

These new open stages have been developed in partnership with key industry organizations: the Infra Stage with Global Highways, the Road Safety Stage with the International Road Federation, the Parking Stage with Parking Network, and the Next Mobility Stage focusing on micromobility, autonomous mobility and urban air solutions.

Live sessions will address the most pressing challenges facing the mobility sector today: rising road fatalities, climate pressures, major reconstruction and maintenance challenges, and growing congestion in urban areas. Sessions will also explore the sector’s rapid digitalization and data sharing, automation and electrification, the need for accurate real-time traffic and travel data, and the push for interoperable mobility solutions that enable seamless end-to-end journeys.

The program also explores real-world deployment of ITS and automated driving, with sessions covering C-ITS and connected infrastructure, digital services for drivers, and data-driven solutions for automated and connected vehicles. Key discussions include the state of autonomous vehicle deployment globally, whether connected and automated vehicles can address driver shortages, and ensuring user acceptance for these emerging technologies.

Navigating the exhibition

To help visitors navigate the expansive show floor, the exhibition has been organized into clear segments: Road Infrastructure, ITS Traffic Management, Road Safety, Parking, and a new feature called Next Mobility. This latest addition showcases emerging transport modes including air mobility, light electric vehicles and micromobility solutions.

Beyond learning about these technologies and discussing ideas with fellow attendees, visitors will be able to witness live demonstrations available both inside and outside the venue. This includes self-driving vehicle solutions for small logistics, shuttles and cars.

Other highlights include the EV Charging pavilion where attendees can explore fast chargers, infrastructure integration, regulation and planning; the New to Market pavilion; and the ITSUP zone – Intertraffic’s dedicated startup platform where emerging companies will showcase groundbreaking products and smart solutions.

“Through our ITSUP platform we give startups a clear stage to present their ideas and meet cities, industry leaders and investors,” says de Winter. “Startups bring passion, fresh ideas and a strong drive that can shape the future of mobility. I truly believe many of tomorrow’s technologies and partnerships will come from them. Intertraffic can be a springboard, giving these young companies international visibility and the connections they need to grow and scale their solutions.

“Startups bring passion, fresh ideas and a strong drive that can shape the future of mobility.”

“The mobility sector is moving in the right direction, and we see strong progress in areas like electrification, smart traffic management and cleaner urban mobility. But at the same time, we have to be realistic. The transition is complex and not the same in every region. Countries face different economic, political and infrastructural challenges, and the interests of cities, industries and citizens do not always align. This means that changes vary globally.”

This is exactly why events like Intertraffic Amsterdam are so valuable – they bring together expertise from around the world, enabling governments, authorities and industry leaders to share solutions, align their approaches, and adapt innovations to meet local needs, as well as providing an important forum in which to do business.

“If we continue to collaborate internationally, share best practices and scale proven solutions, we can reach our sustainability goals,” says de Winter. “Intertraffic plays a big role in bringing those worlds together, and that gives me confidence for the future.”

Making the most of Intertraffic

This year, Intertraffic Amsterdam is adopting an updated entrance policy reflecting the significant expansion of content on offer. The event is moving to a paid entrance model, though de Winter reassures that fees are modest compared to similar events, and visitors can still register for free through exhibitors, including TTi. “Attendees can expect even more benefits this year,” she says. “We are planning several networking get-togethers, the official opening will be open to all, and for those who weren’t aware of it yet, all the summit content is included with the visitor pass as well. In short, once you cross the Intertraffic doorstep, everything is yours.”

“For those who weren’t aware of it yet, all the summit content is included with the visitor pass as well. In short, once you cross the Intertraffic doorstep, everything is yours.”

To maximize the experience, de Winter recommends downloading the Intertraffic Connect application. “Through the app, visitors can easily connect with others, use matchmaking features, see who is exhibiting, and find out who will be speaking in the summit program or on the open stages. It’s really good to use the app to prepare your visits.”

What makes Intertraffic special beyond the technology and business opportunities, de Winter points to something less tangible but equally important: “One additional thing I would like to mention is the atmosphere at Intertraffic Amsterdam which is made thanks to both the team and the audience. It’s always a pleasure to meet everyone.”
