A peer-led education model that puts research-backed resources directly into the hands of teenagers – and rewards schools financially for participation – sits at the heart of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute’s (TTI) Youth Transportation Safety (YTS) Program, according to Stacey Tisdale, assistant manager of the YTS Programme.
Speaking in a clip from Episode 111 of the Thinking Transportation podcast, Tisdale outlines the dual foundations of the approach: harnessing the natural dynamics of peer influence among teenagers, and equipping those peers with high-quality, interactive teaching tools.
For a deeper dive into the subject area, along with further insight from Lisa Minjares-Kyle, manager of the TTI Youth Transportation Safety Program, listen to the whole episode at the Thinking Transportation podcast homepage, or on your favourite streaming service.
