The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) has launched Dune, a platform that uses agentic artificial intelligence (AI) and the Strategic Transport Evaluation and Analysis Modelling (STEAM+) system to support transport planning and data-driven decision-making across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The platform was launched at the Livability and Investment Exhibition (LIVEX 2026) in Abu Dhabi. The Integrated Transport Centre is an affiliate of the emirate’s Department of Municipalities and Transport and acts as the legislative, regulatory and supervisory authority for the transport sector.
“The development of the DUNE platform reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to enhance the transport system by supporting data-driven planning and strengthening the ability to anticipate future opportunities and challenges,” says Abdulla Hamad AlEryani, acting executive director of the planning and strategic affairs sector at the Integrated Transport Centre.
Modelling options before implementation
Dune combines AI, data analytics, transport models and simulation within a single digital environment. It allows planners to study different options and assess their likely impacts, supporting the development of transport projects and mobility policies.
According to the Integrated Transport Centre, the platform can be used to:
- Evaluate public transport projects
- Analyse infrastructure investments
- Assess urban development plans
- Test policies and development options before they are implemented
“The platform represents an advanced tool for studying alternatives and evaluating different options, contributing to the development of more efficient and sustainable mobility projects and policies, while supporting the Emirate’s quality of life objectives and sustainable urban development goals,” AlEryani adds.
Linking transport and urban planning
By bringing analytical and modelling tools into one system, the platform is also intended to align transport and urban planning more closely, so that future projects and investments match the requirements of urban growth across the emirate.
The Integrated Transport Centre oversees land, maritime and aviation transport activities in Abu Dhabi. Dune is one of two digital platforms the centre has presented at LIVEX 2026, alongside a relaunch of its Asateel commercial transport regulation platform.
