The inaugural day of the ITS European Congress 2025 in Seville will commence at 8:30am on Monday May 19, at the Fibes Congress Center, with the Smart Mobility Summit of Cities and Regions, which will see municipal and regional authorities exchange lessons-learned and best-practice for implementing ITS on a large scale.
This is an invitation-only forum, but TTi will be reporting on it proceedings following the event. It is already clear that the meeting will underscore a vital congress principle: successful deployment begins with empowered local leadership and collaborative governance.
At 9:30am the Exhibition Hall will open, displaying cutting-edge mobility technologies and services from a wide variety of exhibitors including, Swarco, Triplesign, Quarterhill, T-Systems Road User Services, and Monotch. Exhibitors will present solutions vital to modern traffic management optimization, such as big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and connected-vehicle systems. Completely new in the Exhibition Hall this year will be the ITS Arena, which is focused on real-world deployment of ITS beyond the traditional public-sector space. The arena will feature presentations from industry leaders from Google Maps, Mastercard, Mercedes-Benz, and Amazon Robotics, extending the mobility dialogue to the broader public.
From 10:30am attendees will have access to 20 specialized technical sessions, featuring 13 Special Interest Sessions and 7 Technical Paper Sessions, which will explore the fundamental pillars of intelligent transportation. The programme spans diverse topics from traffic optimization and autonomous systems to data sharing, sustainable vehicle technologies, and inclusive innovation approaches, delivering both contextual understanding and technical expertise.
The first Plenary Session of the week will commence at 3:15pm in the main auditorium. Entitled The Green Shift – Accelerating a Sustainable Future through ITS, it will establish the congress’s overarching direction with a progressive examination of how intelligent transportation systems can propel Europe’s evolution toward cleaner, more inclusive mobility solutions.

Directly after the first plenary, at 4:15pm, the Opening Ceremony will all participants at the event’s formal commencement. Congress organizers and government representatives will officially welcome delegates and establish the framework for the upcoming sessions.
After the ceremony, attendees will be invited to the Welcome Reception on the exhibition floor, from 5:30 to 6:30pm, providing a relaxed environment for networking with colleagues, sharing initial insights, and celebrating the start of this collaborative gathering.
