Optibus launches dynamic shuttle routing solution

Optibus has launched Optibus Shuttles, a solution designed specifically for the shuttle market. Combining the optimization capabilities of Optibus Scheduling with dynamic, automated planning features, Optibus Shuttles is a powerful automatic dispatching and routing tool for scenarios of all complexities and scale.

For on-demand shuttle operators, ridership numbers and stop locations can change at any moment. A passenger can cancel their spot on the work shuttle at the last minute due to sickness. A new pick-up location can be added overnight. Shuttle operators need to react quickly to change, but updates can take hours or are simply left as-is due to time constraints, frustrating work flows, or lack of resources.

Powered by Moovex, Optibus Shuttles automatically re-routes trips based on passenger demand, reducing fuel waste and eliminating unnecessary labor hours and mileage. What once took hours or days now takes minutes, making it easy for shuttle operators to be fast and flexible. The solution considers constraints and regulations, and generates the most profitable, reliable route in seconds.

Optibus Shuttles gives shuttle operators a range of abilities, including:

Dynamic route adjustments: The system can automatically update routes to account for changes in passenger pickup and drop-off locations, as well as shifts in overall ridership. This helps ensure vehicles are utilized efficiently and service quality is maintained.

Vehicle capacity matching: Optibus Shuttles can right-size vehicle assignments based on passenger loads, avoiding both overcrowding and underutilized vehicles.

Crew optimization: The solution generates optimal work schedules for shuttle drivers and other crew members, taking into account factors like employee preferences.

Cost reduction: By minimizing unnecessary mileage and labor hours, Optibus Shuttles helps shuttle operators identify opportunities to reduce fuel, electricity, and labor expenses.

Data insights: The platform provides improved reporting and transparency across different operational teams, enabling more precise financial forecasting and service planning.

“To be flexible, you need to be fast. The high-speed optimizations and automation of Optibus Shuttles determines the best routes, no manual work required. Passengers book, drivers drive, and operators spend their newly won free time doing what they do best: scaling the business,” says Amos Haggiag, CEO and co-founder of Optibus.
