Q-Free releases new modular and scalable tolling software solution

Q-Free, a provider of mobility solutions for smart city infrastructure, has announced the release of its new software tolling solution called Intrada Operational Back Office, which is set to revolutionize the tolling industry, according to the company.

Designed after years of experience with some of the world’s most respected and prominent tolling operations, Q-Free noted, Intrada Operational Back Office is a major new component within Q-Free’s Intrada suite of solutions which offers customers a comprehensive array of flexible tools and plug-and-play modules to significantly reduce costs and maximize tolling revenues.

The new system is also interoperable with third-party technologies and fully scalable, making it the ideal back-office solution for multi-lane free-flow tolling operators across the globe.

While many back-office products are project-based and built from scratch for specific vendors, Q-Free’s new off-the-shelf tolling software solution was designed to be remotely updatable and installed quickly and easily on any project.

Much like its cousin, Q-Free’s Kinetic Mobility Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), the new back-office solution was developed to be modular and vendor-agnostic, allowing network operators to integrate any existing or new technologies into their system seamlessly, including Q-Free’s own roadside systems.

“We know multi-lane free flow tolling is the future of the industry,” said Fredrik Nordh, Q-Free’s executive vice president of tolling. “Our Intrada Operational Back Office will help revolutionize the tolling industry with its simplicity, security, and efficiency, ensuring our customers are future proofed for emerging technologies as the tolling industry evolves.”

The new back-office platform utilizes the Intrada Insight identification engine that is currently handling millions of toll transactions per day. This engine employs state-of-the-art technology to accurately identify and classify vehicles, including Q-Free’s automatic license plate recognition (ALPR), ensuring precise toll collection and minimizing revenue leakage.

Listening to the industry’s needs, the solution is built on robust architecture with stringent security protocols to safeguard sensitive data and ensure uninterrupted operation. Personal data is carefully protected with automated retention, deletion, and anonymization policies, making the Intrada Operational Back Office fully compliant with European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other country specific data protection regulations.

Another attractive feature of the Intrada Operational Back Office is its vast and historical reporting capabilities. Often toll operators are left unsure about the functionality of equipment and the performance of the roadway, with limited capabilities to collect the information.

Now, with Q-Free’s new back-office solution, operators can automate reports to deliver critical information such as passage and journey information, evidence for enforcement, and even equipment health.

Nordh added, “Our Intrada Operational Back Office solution positions Q-Free and our customers to provide the most seamless tolling experience for the traveling public. We’re accomplishing this all while reducing operational expenses, delivering more usable data, and offering a highly flexible system that adapts to any vendor’s needs.”

Attendees at the ITS World Congress in Dubai, taking place September 16 to 20, 2024, can experience the new software firsthand at the Q-Free exhibit in Hall 7, Stand F14.
