Building on an impressive opening day, Day 2 (Tuesday May 20, 2025) of the 16th ITS European Congress in Seville will deliver an extensive programme combining strategic discussions, expertise exchange, and industry-wide partnerships alongside practical demonstrations.
The programme will begin at 9am with the second plenary session: Resilient by Design – Building a Competitive Mobility Ecosystem. This will examine Europe’s critical need for robust mobility and logistics networks capable of weathering environmental, technological, and geopolitical challenges.
Distinguished speakers from the European Commission, European Space Agency, Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications, Correos, Regional Government of Andalucia, and Southwest Research Institute will explore reinforcing transport infrastructure development and utilization to mitigate adverse impacts, boost system dependability, and advance environmental sustainability.
Over 50 technical sessions span the day’s agenda, comprising 35 Special Interest Sessions, 7 Technical Paper Sessions, and 2 Research Paper Sessions. Topics encompass CCAM implementation, AI-driven traffic systems, digital infrastructure development, eco-friendly logistics, and policy advancement, uniting field professionals, academic researchers, policy architects, and technology innovators for intensive knowledge sharing.
Adjacent to the main venue, live technology demonstrations showcase breakthrough innovations. Featured presentations include CTAG’s autonomous vehicle parking systems, the Province of Groningen’s autonomous shuttle trials, DGT’s drone-enhanced traffic surveillance, EasyPark’s curbside management platforms, and Argos Mobility’s micromobility tracking technologies.
Simultaneously, technical site visits provide participants with firsthand insights into Seville’s smart mobility implementations. Options include the City of Seville’s C-ITS Corridor, Mobility Management Centres operated by both the City of Seville and DGT, the Port of Seville and CTAG logistics innovation facilities, Amazon’s Logistics Centre in Dos Hermanas, autonomous shuttle service trials, and aerial mobility experiences at CATEC and Airbus.
These visits showcase different dimensions of digital transportation, spanning connected infrastructure and live operations to final-mile delivery and urban aviation. Note that visit capacity is restricted and requires advance booking during Congress registration.
The day’s finale is official ITS Gala Dinner on 20 May, which will take place from 7pm at the Casino de la Exposición, which is one Seville’s most historic venues. The celebration opens with an outdoor welcome gathering, proceeding to a formal dinner in the prestigious main hall with a curated menu reflecting regional culinary traditions. Attendees will enjoy vibrant entertainment and artistic presentations celebrating Seville’s cultural essence, culminating in dancing that unites all participants.
