Amika Mobile and Mobi collaborate on connected vehicle systems for intelligent borders

Canadian public safety and security communications company Amika Mobile has announced a collaborative project with Israeli intelligent mobility ecosystem developer Mobility Insight (Mobi) that is focused on intelligent border security and connected vehicle systems.

Amika and Mobi are working on a joint project for the Government of Canada, with Mobi using the hybrid cloud and on-premise capability of the Amika Mobility Server (AMS) platform for critical and emergency communications. The AMS is a patented AI-based intelligent agent platform and can process thousands of simultaneous events while automatically discovering mobile devices in public places, such as border crossings, airports and stadiums, to instantly assist in critical situations and evacuations as a crisis unfolds. Mobi’s own cloud system and IoT (Internet of Things) sensor network allow prediction and analytics and optimization of traffic.

Mobi uses data fusion from legacy systems, intelligent sensors, V2X (vehicle-to-everything), and DSRC (dedicated short-range communications) to create better intelligent infrastructure, supporting traffic management policy, strategy and planning. Through improved traffic-related situational awareness and performance indicators, it enables smart, real-time decisions about road congestion and a better understanding of city-wide traffic patterns, supporting traffic control and optimization, as well as master transportation planning.

The AMS intelligent agent platform enables situational awareness, information sharing, rapid two-way communications across devices and networks, and control through advanced integration with physical security systems. The AMS platform alerts and tracks responses from any communication layer, including connected vehicles, callouts, VoIP, SMS, pop-ups, Push, email, overhead monitors, digital signs, Twitter, camera systems, VMS, government agency or weather alerts, and Mobi’s IoT sensor network.

“This project is a unique use of connected vehicle technology for mobility optimization. Our ability to manage demand and reduce bottlenecks is key to the future of mobility and reduced traffic congestion,” noted Dov Ganor, CEO of Mobility Insight. “Intelligent border crossings are an ideal use case of our solutions, and together with Amika Mobile, we are able to bring this innovative solution to the security market.”

Amika Mobile’s CEO, Dr Sue Abu-Hakima, commented, “It is excellent to be working with Mobi which is an innovator in the intelligent traffic management and guidance of connected vehicles. We are always aiming at the forefront of technology with just-in-time information and it made sense for us to bring the latest security and safety product innovations to connected vehicles and intelligent border crossings, where we can continue to leverage AI within our AMS platform to save lives.”
