Inrix expands its parking reservation and payment platform for auto makers

Drivers in North America can now find, route to, reserve, and pay for parking from the dashboard of their car with the expansion of Inrix’s parking services platform for auto makers.

One of the world leaders in connected car services and transportation analytics, Inrix, has announced the expansion of its parking reservations capabilities in its Parking platform, bringing together availability, reservations, and payments, for both on-street and off-street parking into a seamless in-car navigation system. The Inrix ‘Reserve & pay’ platform gives drivers even more options for reserving parking. The company’s parking system currently includes street parking information in over 40 cities worldwide, and a garage and lot parking database with more than 31 million spaces in nearly 100,000 locations, spanning 4,500 cities in 65 countries.

Inrix is the preferred provider of parking information and services to many leading auto makers and mobile applications, including Audi, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen, Microsoft Bing, and Waze, as well as transportation agencies and drivers around the world. The company’s parking platform now includes reservations from SpotHero, the leading off-street parking reservation service in the USA; and Parking Panda, the leading reservation service in Canada and event parking provider in the USA, which expands on Inrix’s existing capabilities from Parkmobile, ParkU and PayByPhone.

“We are equipping drivers with the most comprehensive and dynamic connected car services, including the ability to find, reserve, pay and drive to a parking spot,” said Alex Israel, vice president and general manager of parking at Inrix. “Our collaboration with both SpotHero and Parking Panda will expand our end-to-end smart parking solution in the car, and will allow us to further tap into the US$20bn off-street parking reservation market.”

Mark Lawrence, co-founder and CEO of SpotHero, commented, “Our collaboration with Inrix supports our efforts to more seamlessly and accurately provide drivers with a simple, integrated parking solution. “By combining our leading parking reservation service with Inrix’s global leadership position in connected car services, together we’ll be able to offer auto manufacturers an unmatched solution for in-car parking reservation capabilities.”

Earlier this year, Inrix and ParkU, a Germany-based provider of off-street parking reservations in 10 countries in Europe, entered into a strategic partnership to bring embedded payment and reservation technology to the dashboard of connected cars across the continent.

The partnership provided automobile manufacturers with the opportunity to create an embedded, end-to-end parking experience, helping European drivers find, reserve, and pay for parking directly using their dashboard.

ParkU’s reservation and payment locations are now incorporated into Inrix’s automotive parking platform, providing European drivers with a complete parking experience, from within their ‘connected’ car. The integrated platform gives drivers the ability to reserve and pay for parking spaces in 55 European cities.
