Leading supplier of wireless systems for the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) market, Intuicom Incorporated, has been selected to provide a statewide wireless communications network by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).
The award, made in conjunction with Intuicom’s distribution partner, Rosenblatt & Associates Inc (RAI), encompasses a broad offering of the company’s wireless systems for traffic and transportation projects throughout North Carolina. Intuicom’s BroadBand Solutions (BBS) radios were selected for their extended range and secure, high-capacity throughput, providing the overriding framework for the state. Previously, NCDOT chose the company’s EB-6 PLUS high-speed wireless transceivers and Communicator II spread spectrum radios for their reliability, performance and scalability. The combination ensures that the NCDOT has a reliable and secure high-speed wireless data communications network.
At speeds up to 108Mbps, the Intuicom’s BBS equipment is engineered to address the extended range and throughput requirements demanded by NCDOT’s bandwidth intensive applications. Capable of operating as the access point, end-point, or repeater in point-to-point and point-to multipoint configurations, the EB-6 PLUS adds the flexible, multifunctional connectivity to round out the communications package.
NCDOT’s scalable wireless system includes centralized monitoring and management of the communications network via Intuicom’s BroadBandPro Enterprise Management Software. The platform’s features include: drag-and-drop network configuration, real-time bidirectional network link data, and a performance dashboard that intuitively communicates network performance parameters, including ping latency, signal-to-noise ratio, and Tx/Rx CCQ. Intuicom boasts that the software is ‘so unique and powerful that it is patented’.

Intuicom has recently started the installation of its wireless systems as the communications infrastructure for the new advanced traffic management system (ATMS) network in the Town of Superior, Colorado. The deployment will facilitate connectivity and advanced integration of the town’s existing traffic management network with the pending upgrade to a centrally-managed ATMS. The new wireless communications system will service both Superior and dozens of intersections they share with the nearby City of Louisville.
