Concluding the Mobility 2.0 roundtable at the ITS America Annual Meeting, Shailen Bhatt, president and CEO of ITS America (ITSA) announced that the organization is partnering with sensor data-curating company Terbine in a first-of-its-kind ITS America Data Exchange program.
The program, which is initially being run as a free-to-use pilot, is the first large-scale Internet of Things (IoT) data exchange available to the transportation and logistics sectors, and is set to enable the seamless movement of machine-generated data across and between public and private organizations.
“You can choose what data you want to provide and you can access all the data from private sector partners, public sector agencies and academia who are feeding into this,” said Bhatt.
Datasets will be available for use by all ITS America members organizations and after the pilot – the length of which has not yet been disclosed – it will eventually be monetized.
“We are now looking at the frontier of where intelligent transportation is going to be in the future,” Bhatt concluded.
