Perceptive Automata brings human behavior prediction to Renovo’s AV platform

One of the leading providers of human behavior prediction software for machines, Perceptive Automata, has joined Renovo’s AWare ecosystem, which is developing the first operating system (OS) built specifically for automated mobility systems.

Renovo is a mobility software company accelerating innovation in Automated Mobility on Demand (AMoD) and Automated Mobility-as-a-Service (AMaaS) systems for use in large-scale autonomous vehicle (AV) fleet deployments. AWare is Renovo’s scalable Automated Mobility Operating System (AMOS), which merges software, data analytics, and automotive-grade safety systems into a unified solution for AMoD/AMaaS deployments.

The new partnership means that automated mobility fleet deployments using Renovo’s AWare OS can now gain access to Perceptive Automata’s critically important algorithms to enable the safer deployment of AVs and a smoother ride experience for passengers of automated mobility services.

Perceptive Automata has solved one of the hardest problems for automated driving: understanding the human state of mind. The company’s artificial intelligence (AI) gives automated vehicles the ability to anticipate what people might do next so they can navigate safely and smoothly in road environments with pedestrians, cyclists, and other drivers. Perceptive Automata is working globally with OEMs, suppliers and technology companies that are developing or integrating Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for SAE Level 2/3 highly automated vehicles, and/or Level 4/5 fully autonomous driving systems, in order to accelerate their time to market. The ability to predict what people are about to do next is essential for autonomous systems to safely and seamlessly integrate into a human-dominated road environment, and to reduce the stop/start ride experience that can create feelings of nausea for some AV passengers.

Perceptive Automata joins the AWare ecosystem along with a growing list of leading companies in the automated mobility sector including: Affectiva, Argus Cyber Security, BestMile, CARMERA, Civil Maps, EdgeConneX, Inrix, Metamoto, NIRA Dynamics, Parsons, Phantom.auto, Samsung, Silexica, Speak With Me, Stanford University, Understand.ai, Velodyne LiDAR, and Verizon.

“We chose to integrate with the AWare OS platform because of Renovo’s focus on deployment at scale and access to the growing number of fleets running AWare,” said Sid Misra, CEO and co-founder of Perceptive Automata. “We share Renovo’s vision of an ecosystem where best-in-class technologies seamlessly integrate to enable the safe large-scale deployment of automated mobility solutions that are suitable for the real world.”

Chris Heiser, CEO and co-founder of Renovo, commented, “Perceptive Automata is the leading developer of critically important human behavior prediction AI for automated vehicles, and we are delighted that they are now part of the AWare ecosystem. We enable our customers to develop and deploy fleets of fully automated vehicles that is made possible by an open ecosystem of best-in-class technologies like that of Perceptive Automata.
