One of the USA’s leading suppliers of applied informatics systems for the transportation industry, Iteris Inc., has partnered with Stockport, Cheshire-based C&T Technology to expand the distribution of its roadway sensor systems across the UK and Ireland.

Iteris is a global leader in applied informatics for transportation, collecting, aggregating and analyzing big data on traffic, roads and weather, allowing municipalities and government agencies to generate precise information that leads to safer transport more efficient travel.

According to ITS UK and the Irish Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, there will be heavy investment across the UK and Ireland over the next 10 years, with calls for more sensor technology, data collection and multimodal detection. Iteris products are well suited to support the region’s ongoing efforts to make roads smarter, safer, less congested and more efficient for all road users.

Seen as an important step in expanding the company’s northern European sales coverage, the deal will see Iteris’s full range of detection systems, as well as its cloud-based performance analytics software, sold through C&T Technology’s extensive distribution network. Iteris will be offering its Vantage branded video and radar vehicle monitoring equipment, together with SmartCycle bicycle and PedTrax pedestrian detection systems to the UK and Irish marketplace. Also available will be the company’s IPeMS, VantageLive, SPM, and NetScene transportation network management and data analytics software platforms.

C&T Technology offers a diverse range of services and products to the transportation industry, including the UK distribution for the Icoms Detections range of radar products and supplier of EMX electromagnetic and ultra-sonic detection equipment. With many years of experience providing UTC and SCOOT system installation, C&T Technology also provides support to Swarco, Dynniq and Telent on a variety of projects in the ITS sector.

“We are very pleased to announce the addition of C&T Technology to our European distribution channel,” said Todd Kreter, SVP and general manager of roadway sensors at Iteris. “This is an important step for our UK and Irish expansion. C&T is the ideal partner to deliver the sales and support of our products due to its long history of traffic engineering expertise in the region.”

Chris Webb, director of C&T Technology, commented, “This agreement is an exciting step forward in our mission to create a portfolio of products relating to the roads and highways industry that draws on the experience of other countries and industries. I believe that Iteris, with their excellent distributor training and support, will provide a quality range of solutions for the UK and Irish markets.”
