One of the UK’s leading providers of video-based intelligent traffic enforcement and management systems, Videalert, will be presenting its solutions for Clean Air and Low Emission Zones at two upcoming smart city events.

Videalert is partnering with Imperial Civil Enforcement Systems (ICES) at the Smart Transport Masterclass event taking place in Birmingham on February 14. The two companies will jointly present a session about an end-to-end solution to manage and enforce the new generation of Clean Air and Low Emission Zones that are being planned in cities across the UK. The Masterclass event will show key stakeholders, including procurement leads and influencers, how they can deploy the latest digital technology-enabled solutions and best practices to deliver a transport system that will allow passengers to travel efficiently, safely and with minimal impact on the environment.

The Masterclass event aims to explore smart transport system opportunities for Birmingham and other cities, with a focus on: open data, data analytics, customer experience, Internet of Things (IoT) applications, traffic optimization, and other innovations.

At the free-to-attend, half-day event, delegates will hear from leading digital technology experts on: the challenges of becoming a leading smart city that are faced by Birmingham and other cities’ transport sectors; associated industry trends; the drivers for digital innovation; and development of appropriate smart and intelligent solutions. Each expert will offer an overview of their experience and expertise in a brief initial presentation, before moving to a more in-depth consultation during the roundtable discussions. The event culminates with a keynote presentation from Chris Lane, head of innovation at Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), discussing the public transport operator’s digital journey to date.

Videalert is also presenting a paper at Smart Cities UK 2018, taking place on February 1 in London. The presentation is titled How a single data source can drive multiple traffic enforcement and management applications including Clean Air Zones. Videalert director Tim Daniels will cover topics that include:

• How open data platform approach supports multiple internal/external consumers;

• Examples of multiple applications supported through a single platform;

• How an open data platform approach allows partnering with best of breed technologies to deliver end-to-end solutions, with a focus on clean air zones and the Imperial partnership system;

• Importance of standards, such as ONVIF, to this type of integrated solution;

• Hosted Platforms – a quick and easy way to deploy such solutions.
