Siemens shows its latest traffic enforcement portfolio at Parkex 2016

Following the introduction of intelligent parking to the European traffic market at Intertraffic 2016 in April and at the ITS European Congress in Glasgow, Siemens has this week been exhibiting its innovative range of enforcement and parking products at Parkex 2016, Europe’s largest dedicated parking exhibition and conference, which is taking place in Coventry.

Siemens has been showing its proven systems for the automatic detection and enforcement of traffic contraventions, from simple parking and bus lane enforcement, to more complex moving traffic violations, such as banned turns, no entries, going the wrong way in a one-way street, and illegal U turns. These products are supplied following the acquisition of business partner Zenco Systems in 2015, the UK’s leading traffic enforcement organization. Zenco was founded in 2006 to help local authorities realize the potential of using CCTV video evidence to enforce traffic contraventions. Following the first digital enforcement trials in the London Borough of Camden in 1996, the ZenGrab Digital Enforcement Solution has since become the most widely used and efficient digital enforcement system in the UK.

Representing the future of enforcement, Siemens has unveiled the new SiCore II camera platform, which is the next generation of ANPR camera, with excellent image quality, a powerful quad core processor, and features designed for the changing world of ANPR, such as H2.64 streaming, wi-fi connectivity and more. The modern, distinctively designed Sicore II camera will be ready for deployment later this year.

Also on display for the first time, was the LaneWatch Mk3, the latest unattended moving traffic enforcement camera, designed to provide wireless, automatic enforcement of yellow box junctions and other moving traffic enforcement. The LaneWatch range of cameras use ANPR to detect and identify unauthorized vehicles. Compact and lightweight, the cameras can be installed on existing street furniture, reducing installation and relocation costs, as well as timescales.

Another new addition to the range is the TrafficWatch PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera for school ‘keep-clear’ enforcement. Based on the latest wireless CCTV cameras and using the 3G/4G cellular network to communicate, TrafficWatch PTZ can be deployed permanently outside schools or regularly relocated between schools to provide an effective, re-deployable enforcement system, and a more discreet service for local authorities to meet their enforcement needs, both now and in the future.

Also at the event, Siemens product manager Priscilla Boyd presented ‘Intelligent Parking – Where ITS and Smart Cities unite’. In addition to exploring the integration of intelligent parking bay sensing technologies with traffic management systems, and the impact that parking has on traffic and how traffic management can be used to mitigate those issues, Boyd’s presentation looked at how existing traffic infrastructure can be used to help with parking strategies, and how the data can help with parking planning, such as management of parking, pricing or restrictions.
