Nedap’s MOOV vehicle access system wins international award

Netherlands-based developer of vehicle identification and smart parking systems Nedap has won a Detektor International Innovative Achievement Award in the Access Control category for its MOOV system.

Published in Sweden, Detektor International is a leading global trade magazine for the security industry, and its annual Awards rewards and encourages research and development in the security technology field. Selected by a jury consisting of members of the editorial board, the Awards are a confirmation and recognition of products that stand up to the criteria of outstanding innovations and contributions to the advancement of the security industry. Nedap’s Award-winning MOOV is the world’s first access-control system specifically designed for vehicle entrances in cities, corporate estates and other parking facilities.

Launched earlier this year, Nedap’s MOOV access control system has been specifically designed to optimize mobility in smart cities, responding to the worldwide trend toward intelligent management and operations and the increasing focus on mobility challenges in urban areas. MOOV offers dedicated modules for access control to cities, business parks with multiple tenants, and pre-booked parking spaces. Most modern cities and parking facilities suffer from increasing amounts of traffic, often resulting in congestion, discomfort for pedestrians or hard to manage parking access.

Nedap’s MOOV platform for city and parking access remotely manages vehicle access points from one central location, with all controllers connected to a hosted service that runs on the company’s data center. Each entrance can be equipped with various technologies for the identification of vehicles and people, such as RFID and ALPR, barriers of all types, traffic lights, monitoring devices and cameras, and communication systems, including intercom.

MOOV can be used for:

Pedestrian zones; Restricting traffic in semi-pedestrian areas, where only registered vehicles, taxis, public transport and emergency services are authorized to enter; Bus and taxi lanes or cab ranks; Reducing emissions in environmental zones, with remote enforcement of polluting vehicles; Managing vehicle access of authorized personnel, visitors and suppliers at industrial areas and business parks; Vehicle access to all forms of gated communities and car parks.

The Detektor Awards jury said, “Specifically designed to cleverly optimize traffic flow, while still maintaining a high degree of versatility and unhindered access for emergency services, Nedap has intelligently engineered the world’s first dedicated vehicle access control platform.”

Michiel Rijssemus, business development manager at Nedap Mobility Solutions, commented, “We are very pleased with the acknowledgement and confidence in our first dedicated vehicle access control system, MOOV. The award recognizes our commitment to offer innovative solutions for the mobility challenges that cities and corporate facilities face nowadays.
