SESA gains ISO certification and type approval from Massachusetts DOT

Rhode Island-based manufacturer of digital, LED signage for the transportation industry, SES America Inc (SESA), has received approval from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) for its blank out and lane control signs.

SESA’s models are now included in the MassDOT qualified traffic and control equipment list under ‘Section 824: flashing beacons, illuminated warning signs, and lighted barrier arrows’. SESA specializes in the manufacture of dynamic message signs (DMS) and smaller scale signage as part of their Mobility Product line, which includes: blank out signs (BOS), variable speed limit sign (VSLS), lane control signs (LCS), and travel time signage, and focuses on pedestrian and vehicle detection, traffic calming, way finding, warnings, intersections, and other types of information signage.

BOS offer customized solutions to meet the needs of a wide variety of project specifications, with cost effective and efficient systems. Each sign is capable of displaying multiple phases of both text and graphics messages, in any color and any size. The Mobility Product Line also includes LCS, which are unique in their capability of providing intelligence via NTCIP reporting when linked with the company’s SCU6 full color touch screen controller. When used in conjunction with the SCU6 the features of the LCS are expanded to also include control of multiple signs via a single interface, monitoring of component faults/failures, and conflict monitoring of each symbol to ensure conflicting lane access symbols are not posted.

SESA has also announced that it is now ISO 9001:2015 certified. The company’s commitment to continuously improve products and services has been recognized by NQA, a third party accreditation body. The process has been carefully audited and includes all steps in manufacturing and maintaining intelligent transportation systems (ITS) equipment, while focusing on customer satisfaction. The focus of this months-long evaluation process was: quality management, system development and implementation, a management system documentation review, vendor and supplier evaluation, project management, pre-audit, initial assessment, and procedures for corrective actions related to non-conformances.

SESA’s primary goal is to be a leading supplier of DMS and related ITS products, such as customized mobility solutions and solar powered systems, that fully comply with all contractual provisions and government regulatory specification requirements.

SESA’s president, Phil Perut, commented, “This goal will be accomplished through innovative technology that delivers energy efficient systems and superior customer responsiveness. The SES America team will work even harder to maintain its certification and will perform regular internal audits for continuous improvement. Official third party audits will take place every year. We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to our customers, suppliers, and partners for their long term loyalty and valuable cooperation.”
