Jenoptik to launch new ALPR products at Traffex

Jenoptik Traffic Solutions will be attending next week’s Traffex show in Birmingham, UK, and introducing the innovative new Vector SR camera system, alongside a full range of advanced ALPR (automatic license plate recognition) systems.

Jenoptik will be showing a wide range of current and future technologies at Traffex, which is taking place from April 4-6 at the NEC, including:

• Vector SR – launching the new spot speed and red-light enforcement product;

• SPECS3 Vector – the UK’s most widely used average speed enforcement system;

• Vector – introducing the latest versions of the highly successful ALPR camera;

• ESSA BOF – demonstrations of the powerful back office software tools.

Jenoptik will be unveiling the innovative new Vector SR unit, an addition to the company’s current Vector family, providing an enforcement system for red-light, spot speed, and ‘speed on green’ violations. Using standard, proven modules, Vector SR is a non-invasive, simple to install camera system that will allow the police and highway authorities to replace obsolete technology with a highly capable, but easy to operate, system. As the industry-leading supplier of average speed enforcement systems in the UK, the introduction of Vector SR allows Jenoptik to offer a complete range of unattended enforcement devices.

The SPECS3 Vector average speed enforcement system uses linked ALPR cameras to monitor the point-to-point speed of traffic over a section of road, or network of roads. It has been widely used in the UK to control speeds on routes with a collision history, since achieving UK Home Office Type Approval (HOTA) in 1999. Permanent SPECS3 installations are used by the police, local authorities, safety partnerships, and strategic highways authorities, to improve safety and to encourage smoother traffic flows. Temporary SPECS3 installations are also used by highways contractors to manage traffic speeds through roadworks where narrow lanes and contraflows affect safety.

Jenoptik will be showing the latest version of its Vector camera, which allows license plates to be captured and read across two lanes using a single, highly capable and compact integrated unit. Two high resolution cameras provide ALPR and scene overview images, including day/night mode, allowing capture on a completely dark road. Images can be transferred via a wide range of communications media, or stored on local high capacity memory. A GPS clock, compass, accelerometer and two light sensors allow Vector to dynamically adapt to changing operational environments. It is widely used for: bus lane enforcement, ‘Yellow Box’ violations, tolling, and journey time measurement (JTM). The LX model is used for level crossing safety systems.

Following the recent acquisition of ESSA Technology in January this year, Jenoptik will also be demonstrating the powerful back office (BOF) software tools that are already widely used by UK police forces, using advanced database analysis tools to drive intelligence based decisions. ESSA has long been a trusted partner to government and security agencies, with a track record of developing cutting edge license plate recognition applications, in particular through its industry leading back office platform.
