TrafficLand, one of the largest authorized aggregators of live traffic video in the USA, has signed an agreement with CBS RADIO, allowing the broadcaster’s news operations to use its video management technology.
The TrafficLand Video Management Console (VMC) service provides integrated access to real-time video from thousands of state and local Department of Transportation (DOT) traffic cameras across the USA through a specialized interface that was built by the company for traffic reporters and first responders to improve situational awareness.
TrafficLand’s patented Image Engine technology provides single-source access to live video streams from over 20,000 traffic cameras, in more than 200 cities on its network. Video formats and services offered by the company support mobile applications, traveler information websites, broadcast traffic reporting, navigation devices, and a dedicated service for DOTs and public safety agencies to aid traffic management and emergency response.
TrafficLand’s VMC service gives CBS RADIO regional news operation centers and individual radio stations 24-hour access and the ability to monitor rush hour patterns, traffic bottlenecks like bridges and tunnels, and how incidents affect traffic conditions. The VMC service also lets users set up multi-camera ‘catalog’ displays in logical groupings that can be stored for repeat use and viewed as needed for fast reference updates, which quickly show the effects of traffic and weather conditions or emergency situations on roadways. Clicking on cameras (either from the map or catalogs) can launch live streaming video in a large viewing window, allowing users to focus on a specific traffic, weather or news incident. The VMC can also find cameras using an interactive map or text search.
