Siqura to launch new line of V2X- and C-ITS-ready traffic cameras at Intertraffic Amsterdam

Netherlands-based supplier of advanced video surveillance systems Siqura will be launching a new line of traffic cameras equipped with the latest innovations at the 2018 Intertraffic Amsterdam event taking place this week (March 20-23).

Part of TKH Group, Siqura offers a wide range of rugged outdoor cameras with embedded intelligence and advanced video management software. The company says its three new state-of the-art cameras exceed both current and future standards. The new line of traffic cameras consists of:

• The XCU Fusion dual sensor camera with optical and thermal lenses;

• The XCU Compact Optical single sensor camera, with optical zoom block in 4x and 10x zoom;

• The XCU Compact Thermal single sensor camera, with a range of thermal cores such as 7.5mm, 9mm, 13mm, 19mm, and 25mm.

All three new cameras have been designed to operate under extreme weather conditions and withstand the roughest outdoor conditions that frequently present themselves in traffic locations, such as bridges, tunnels, roadsides and waterways.

The cameras are all extremely compact and fully made of stainless steel 316L or (optionally) 316Ti stainless steel plus additional coating. They are lightweight, depending on the model either 4.4 lb or 8.8 lb (2kg or 4kg). The cameras are waterproof, meeting IP66 and IP67 standards. Solid brackets for wall, pole and ceiling mounting are available for the new units that are also in stainless steel.

These high-quality brackets provide a very easy and precise way of mounting and adjusting the camera position. The cameras are connected through IP67 connectors, saving a large amount of installation time. The cameras in this new line can be used in both hot climates, as well as in extreme cold conditions. They will withstand corrosive atmospheres caused by exhaust gases and salt. Vibrations, fierce wind loads, high pressure waterjet cleaning, and all kinds of precipitation will not be a problem to the ruggedized units.

All three new models use the same technology platform and are capable of processing detection software inside the camera. The ‘on-camera intelligence’ can perform the detection itself, and send event information straight to traffic control centers and other applications.

The new camera line is V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communications-ready. The cameras can send information through C-ITS (Cooperative-ITS) to other infrastructure, as well as to vehicles. A camera equipped with this connectivity can also act as a node in a C-ITS network and respond to other V2X information or requests.
