ITS-UK to host new one-day technology and strategy Summit in November

November will see a new event in the UK aimed at debating and discussing how ITS strategies and technology can help solve challenges on the road network, bringing together all the relevant stakeholders involved with planning, managing and delivering change to the country’s transport system.

Taking place at Bristol Harbour Hotel on November 27, the ITS-UK Summit 2018 will be organized by Transport Network, part of the Hemming Group, and organizers of the Traffex brand events, in association with ITS-UK, the national organization for Intelligent Transportation Systems. The aim of the CPD-accredited one-day thought leadership style event, supported by ITS-UK and hosted by Bristol City Council, is to focus on ITS and its use in all areas of the highways and transport sector, particularly in its role in helping solve some of the most challenging issues on the network today, but also helping create sustainable and long-term opportunities on the road system as well.

Under the banner, ‘Where the technology meets the road’, topics covered throughout the day will include:

Creating and making better use of road space; Dealing with the congestion challenge Breaking down the barriers to delivery; Funding; The future of policy and procurement; Implementing ITS strategies; Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS); The latest technology and innovation; A debate considering how to prepare the network for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs).

The annual ITS-UK President’s Dinner and Awards event will take place the night before at the same venue

“This is not just another conference, this is a meeting of the finest minds in highways and transport as well as ITS, to discuss and examine the issues around implementing the great technology we have, explained Jennie Martin, Secretary General of ITS-UK. “We will have lively debate and knowledge sharing and not an endless round of powerpoint presentations. Our old conference fizzled out because it wasn’t offering anything different in a crowded market. I can promise this event will be like no other, and really underlines our role as the voice of transport technology in the UK.”

Adrian Tatum, events producer and head of content at Transport Network, commented, “We are delighted to have this opportunity to bring together all the key stakeholders in the sector, including ITS professionals, both from the public and private sector, ITS companies, and similar organizations, as well as the wider highways sector, to debate and discuss the latest thinking and challenges on the network to highlight how use of ITS strategies and technology could help solve them. This summit will attempt to break down the barriers to ITS delivery to help drive change on the road network.”
