Two of the leading providers of weather information have formed a partnership to create the next generation of integrated traffic and weather systems for connected vehicles.

The leading provider of traffic, transit and weather information in the USA, Total Traffic & Weather Network (TTWN), and Baron, a global provider of critical weather intelligence, have announced a multi-year, data-collaboration partnership. The technological agreement will combine TTWN’s award-winning, real-time traffic incident and flow data, with Baron’s expertise in location-specific weather products, including the patented Baron Telematics Weather safety system. TTWN reaches more than 196 million monthly listeners across more than 200 markets. With services to over 2,000 radio and 200 television affiliates, plus automotive, navigation, internet, mobile and government partners, the company operates the largest traffic data gathering network, staffed with over 800 local traffic reporters in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

TTWN’s new partner, Baron, produces meteorological hardware, software and data, which are indispensable tools for organizations, businesses and individuals critically impacted by weather conditions. Over 226 million people have access to Baron’s real-time, hyper-local weather intelligence through major media outlets in North America, including major brands such as CNN, AccuWeather, WeatherNation and The Weather Network. Together, the two companies will work to create the next generation of integrated traffic and weather systems offering enhanced road and weather safety capabilities to automotive manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers, insurance companies, media and public safety markets. Offerings will include differentiated real-time, predictive and historical data features for multiple platforms. The first integration is designed to enhance the connected car driving experience, providing better road guidance, smoother commutes and increased safety, and will be immediately available for all TTWN automotive traffic and weather partners.

“We are thrilled to partner with Baron to bring the next generation of traffic and weather solutions to the marketplace,” said Kevin Loftus, senior vice president of operations for TTWN. “By combining our robust traffic data with Baron’s weather expertise, we will be able to innovate and provide unique solutions for companies looking to offer their consumers increased awareness of weather and traffic conditions.”

Glen Denny, president of enterprise solutions for Baron Services Inc., commented, “I’m truly excited to have two innovative companies join forces and utilize the strengths of each to bring unique and cutting edge solutions to the public safety, automotive, insurance and media industries. With the strengths of TTWN and Baron, we continue to grow and impact the world around us by providing informative weather and traffic guidance to many industries and government.”
