UK-based speed camera manufacturer Truvelo has announced it will be launching several new products at the Traffex 2017 show, including a new infrared illumination system, and a radar-based spot speed camera designed specifically for vehicle control at industrial sites.
Taking place at the NEC Birmingham, UK, on April 4-6, Traffex 2017 will see the launch of the TRIMMS Gx second generation infrared (IR) illumination system for night-time mobile speed enforcement with Truvelo’s LASERwitness Lite camera system. TRIMMS is designed to operate in the darkest of rural locations, and uses the very latest IR lamp technology, combined with energy efficient battery technology to produce highly impressive make and model vehicle identification at night.
LASERwitness is a UK Home Office Type Approved (HOTA) digital video speed enforcement system, whose size and weight make it ideal for use in or out of a van. Capable of motorcycle deployment or tripod-mounting at the side of the road, it opens up sites which would otherwise remain unenforceable. The LASERwitness can store up to 8,000 offence video clips on a single SD card, and now features a new Frame Sender unit to display live video feed or playback on an external monitor.
In what is proving to be a busy period of product innovation by Truvelo, the company is also launching the VIA-Cam industrial spot speed radar camera. Designed and built entirely in-house, the VIA Cam features simultaneous bi-direction image capture from a single camera, and the option of setting different speed limits for the two directions. This allows a lower speed threshold to be set for vehicles entering a site. Speeds as low as 10mph (16km/h) or below can be monitored and images captured using a single HD quality color image. VIA-Cam has been developed for use at: bus stations and transit facilities, all forms of industrial sites, retail and business parks, airports, container depots or logistics hubs, and car parks.
The managers of private industrial sites are becoming increasingly concerned with health and safety issues on-site, particularly speed control and the enforcement of on-site speed limits. Until now the market has lacked an economically viable alternative to the full blown Home Office approved speed camera. Truvelo’s modular VIA-Cam system can be dovetailed with a site’s Health and Safety policy, and is capable of capturing offences in either direction, around the clock, due to its built-in IR illuminator. Offence images are stored on the ruggedized water- and dust-proof device for local download, or they may be transferred automatically via Ethernet or 3G to a back office for retrieval at a later date using Truvelo’s VIDEX back office software platform.
Also on display at Traffex will be the latest versions of Truvelo’s D-CAM digital speed and red-light camera, and the ProLaser 4 hand-held laser speedmeter, as well as the company’s full range of vehicle activated signs and systems for Community Speed Watch applications.
