Truck Parking Europe system expands with first pan-European reservation platform

The daily search for a parking space has become one of the greatest sources of stress for truck drivers across Europe, because there aren’t enough official parking spaces to house all the trucks on the roads. Now, the largest and most up-to-date database of parking areas across the continent has been expanded with a new reservation platform.

Developed in association with the German transportation software provider the PTV Group, Truck Parking Europe is the continent’s largest free platform for truck parking facilities. With over 550,000 downloads, over 26,000 parking areas, and more than 600,000 parking spaces throughout Europe, the app is the number one choice to find the best truck parking space availability along a route.

The platform has now been expanded with the addition of a reservation platform, which enables carriers and truckers to book safe parking facilities for their trucks in advance.

The first pan-European reservation platform helps transport companies and truck drivers find and reserve secure parking spaces in advance, both on the web and via the app. This allows logistics companies to make life easier and more convenient for their drivers and to prevent road safety risks caused by tired drivers searching for available parking spaces.

If a haulage company has booked a parking space for a driver, they can be informed directly about the reservation through a confirmation from their operations or management center. Protected truck parking facilities can also be booked through their own reservation platforms. Truck Parking Europe’s reservation platform can be connected to any parking reservation system in Europe, with the system simply sending the reservation request to the car park operator.

To reach even more carriers and truck drivers, the platform is also integrated into the PTV Map & Guide transport route planning software, which means that all users of PTV’s telematics planning software can also reserve secure parking spaces for their drivers on all routes throughout Europe.

PTV’s Truckparking director, Niels de Zwaan, said, “By integrating a unique reservation feature in the app, professional drivers know exactly where a secure parking space is waiting for them on their route. We are the first with a European-wide reservation platform, which is yet another step in our continuous development to support our driver community toward increased road safety.”
