The autonomous revolution begins

Audi is now beginning to roll out a whole host of active safety systems that represent the first steps towards autonomous vehicles. This video shows their Pre Sense City system in action, which aims to prevent pedestrian collisions by giving warnings and even undertaking full automatic braking in emergency situations. Other systems set to be available on their 2016 Q7 models include Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Rear Cross Traffic Assist, among many others.
Audi is just one of the auto manufacturers who is implementing such systems, all of which fit with the prediction given by the Ford Motor Company's chairman Bill Ford to Traffic Technology International last year. "People often ask me, 'When will we get to autonomous driving'," he said. "My thought at the moment is that by the time we get there it won't be a big deal because a lot of these features will already start to come into the vehicle." click here.

Not only that, once you're parked up, the door-to-door system will guide you on foot for the remainder of the journey to your exact destination. In this video Mercedes-Benz vice president Sajjad Khan explains more.

The smart mobility system is now being trialled in London and gets the edge over similar schemes by offering one-way journeys, charging by the minute and not tying users down to a set return time. click here.
