DG Cities is currently delivering a wide range of exciting projects and an important element of its work is in the area of smart mobility and the opportunities presented by technological innovation, including connected and autonomous vehicles.

With new projects starting, it is looking for a skilled and experienced Mobility lead with the knowledge, drive and experience to support these challenging projects and to draw the policy implications for mobility in cities and the steps required to capture the opportunities they present. You will also need to identify opportunities to build the team’s expertise and reputation.

You will work as part of a truly multidisciplinary team and will work with colleagues to deliver projects and address research questions in a collaborative and innovative manner. Your work may be required on every project in our portfolio giving true variety to your work.

Your precise responsibilities will depend on the project you are engaged on and the type of work coming into the business. However, you are likely to contribute to the following work areas:

▪ Supporting the creation of the ‘Smart Mobility Living Lab:London’, a new world-leading, real-world test environment in London for the development of future mobility solutions;
▪ Analysing connected vehicle data and developing recommendations for roadside infrastructure optimisation;
▪ Understanding how connected and autonomous vehicles will impact urban environments and leading on a roadmap for CAV integration in the Royal Borough of Greenwich;
▪ Developing new smart city project proposals including funding bids.

This is a fixed term post for a period of six months.
