Activu's TMC visualization software and video wall systems at ITSA Annual Meeting

A pioneer in the development of collaborative visualization software and video wall systems, Activu Corporation, demonstrated its latest solutions for traffic management centers (TMCs) at the ITS America 2018 Annual Meeting and Expo that took place last week (June 4-7), in Detroit, Michigan.

Later this month Activu will cross the border, giving demonstrations at the ITS Canada Annual Conference and General Meeting, which is taking place from June 17-20, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Activu will again showcase ActivWare, the company’s latest enterprise software, which helps traffic management centers (TMCs) to improve incident response and decision making by enabling operations staff to see, share and respond to critical events in real time, with context.

Tailored to meet the operational needs of TMCs, ActivWare helps users share visual information across a network, regardless of the location, on any type of screen, from a control room video wall or workstation to a laptop or mobile device. Users are provided with a wealth of dynamic information, allowing them to obtain a complete operational picture, effectively share critical information, anticipate problems due to congestion and plan appropriately, to minimize issues and delays.

Attendees at ITS Canada will have the opportunity to view Activu’s mobility capabilities, which enable users to connect wirelessly and securely from the field, using their smartphone or tablet. Field personnel can stream real-time high-definition video and send captured photos and videos to the control room, while also being able to view visual information from the control room on their mobile devices. Recognizing that mobile devices can sometimes be lost or stolen, and ensuring the security of traffic operations, the application ensures that nothing is stored on the device, whether it is the user interface, control functionality or remotely viewed information.

Activu will also be demonstrating its ActivLink middle-ware that integrates the ActivWare software platform with a customer’s analytical or monitoring software to automatically present actionable information based on a triggering event or alarm condition, leading to better, faster incident response. For example, a crash on a monitored highway results in the immediate display of relevant camera feeds, mapping and other event-critical data on the video wall or operator desktop. ActivLink provides the tools to program what information is displayed and where, in response to a specific, triggering event or user-defined scenario. Triggering software could be a video management system such as Genetec’s Security Center or OSIsoft’s real-time data and event monitoring PI system.
