Trafficware releases faster version of its Synchro traffic optimization software

Texas-based transportation equipment developer Trafficware has released a new faster version of its flagship Synchro Traffic Analysis, Simulation and Optimization software, which is currently used in more than 90 countries worldwide.

The new 10.1 version of the database platform provides improved speed and stability, with upward of 20-50% increase in speed for some operations. Earlier in the year, Trafficware launched the completely revamped version 10 of Synchro plus SimTraffic Software. The release represents the company’s commitment to bringing improved technology at a regular six-month cadence, with the latest version 10.1 available as a free upgrade for all existing Synchro 10 customers. As well as the speed improvements, the latest version of Synchro includes even more additions to the look and feel, such as an updated color scheme complementing the new ribbon bars and updated design, adding to the ease of use. Customer comments also contributed to the latest release and will remain vital in upcoming releases.

Synchro Version 10 and higher supports the Highway Capacity Manual’s (HCM) 6th Edition, 2010 and 2000 for signalized intersections, un-signalized intersections, and roundabouts. Synchro software also implements the Intersection Capacity Utilization method for determining intersection capacity.

Synchro’s signal optimization routine allows the user to weight specific phases, thus providing users more options when developing signal timing plans. Because the software is easy to use, traffic engineers are modeling within a very short time, which Trafficware says is one of the reasons why Synchro optimization software remains as one of the leading traffic analysis applications.

Theresa Rohlfs, Synchro product manager, who is also lead trainer for Trafficware University, has been holding classroom demonstrations of the new upgraded Synchro software at the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Annual Meeting, which is currently taking place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where engineers have been able to see the system improvements at first hand.

Rohlfs commented, “Today, technology evolves at a rapid pace. With the move toward smart cities and government-driven initiatives, our loyal and worldwide customers must have the best-in-class traffic simulation and optimization software possible.”
