Inrix to supply Porsche and Volvo with connected travel information services

Two of Europe’s premium auto makers are now making use of real-time travel information from Inrix, one of the leaders in connected car services and transportation analytics.

Inrix, has announced that its off-street parking and fuel services will be soon available in the all-new Porsche Panamera vehicles in Europe and North America. Drivers will be able to easily find, compare and navigate to available off-street parking spaces, as well as search for and drive to the lowest fuel prices nearby. Joining other premium auto makers that have recently incorporated Inrix’s parking services, Porsche will now allow drivers to access dynamic off-street parking information, including routes to the closest garage locations, detailed rates, amenities, restrictions, and real-time occupancy.

Inrix Parking offers access to the world’s most comprehensive and accurate parking database that includes more than 29 million spaces in over 90,000 locations, spanning 4,000 cities in 65 countries. Inrix Fuel allows drivers to search for nearby stations and view dynamic pricing to find their preferred fuel at the lowest price. The service provides location, brand and real-time pricing information for more than 277,000 fuel stations in Europe and North America. The Fuel service is continually monitored and regularly updated as new fueling locations come online.

Inrix has also announced that its Traffic service will be integrated globally into Volvo V40, V40 Cross Country, S60, V60 and XC60 models. Inrix real-time traffic is already available worldwide across the 90-series vehicle lineup. Starting this month, Volvo Cars around the world will be equipped with Inrix’s real-time and predictive traffic flow information for routes, travel times, and alerts to accidents and incidents on over five million miles of roads. The company’s Traffic service incorporates information from its network of more than 300 million connected vehicles and devices in over 40 countries. In November 2015, Inrix was selected as the global traffic provider for Volvo’s Sensus Connect product, an innovative onboard infotainment and navigation system that allows drivers to discover new places, stream their favorite music, and provide other personalized services.

“Dynamic services are no longer just a selling point, but a requirement. As a matter of fact, 81% of drivers currently use, or are considering using, in-car connectivity for information,” explained Andreas Hecht, executive vice president and general manager of automotive services at Inrix.

“Real-time information, like traffic, parking and fuel, plays a critical role in the entire driving experience. The global integration of our Traffic service into Volvo Cars is a testament to the quality and innovation of our connected car services.”
