Wavetronix releases software upgrade for its SmartSensor Matrix interface

One of the worldwide market leaders in radar traffic detection and monitoring has announced the launch of a new upgrade to its management software that makes it possible to configure a radar sensor in as little as 15 minutes.

Utah-based Wavetronix has released version 2.1 of its SmartSensor Matrix Manager software system, which makes the set-up and configuration of its multi-beam radar units even simpler. Version 2.1 of the Matrix graphical user interface offers improvements for the detection of moving vehicles and now features zone templates for quicker and easier sensor configurations. Engineers, consultants and contractors are among the traffic professionals who will benefit from this release, as the intuitive new design includes point-and-click operations and real-time graphic vehicle representations, which simplify the configuration process. The interface also allows users to remotely monitor current traffic conditions. SmartSensor Matrix Manager 2.1 also presents a cleaner interface and makes it possible to edit small zones.

The widely-used SmartSensor Matrix sensor generates 16 separate radar beams in close proximity to create its 140ft (47m), 90-degree field of view. The sensor detects each vehicle within its field of view, remembers their positions, and can predict future movements for greatly improved detection accuracies. The SmartSensor Matrix unit uses high definition, multi-beam radar and a patented radar imaging process to see all vehicles, moving or stopped, in all conditions. The Matrix also features a detection range that is capable of covering up to 10 lanes of traffic at once.

The Matrix Manager configuration software for SmartSensor is very easy to use, as it features auto-configuration and traffic visualization capabilities with intuitive click-and-drag functionality that makes it possible to configure a sensor in as little as 15 minutes. The upgraded Version 2.1 features: improved detection for moving vehicles; easier configuration; zone template; smaller zone nodes for editing small zones; and a cleaner user-interface.

“We continually strive to create and improve solutions for challenging traffic problems,” said Ryan Lindsey, product office director at Wavetronix. “Version 2.1 provides even faster and more flexible configurations and is the only way to interact with SmartSensor Matrix detectors. The new zone templates allow users to quickly create, save and upload multiple zone configurations to their roadway. We’ve also improved the counting of vehicles approaching or departing the intersection, resulting in extremely accurate detections.”

Jeremy Wright, director of strategic marketing at Wavetronix, noted, “The latest version of SmartSensor Matrix Manager demonstrates our customer-oriented mindset. Easier configuration, ease of use, and improved detections all create greater value for each of our customers.”
