Vehicle tracking specialist Pointer Telocation is applying its expertise to a whole new type of fleet. Yachts participating in this year’s Annual Aegean Rally in Greece will be fitted with Cellocator GPS vehicle tracking equipment from Pointer Telocation and mobile communications from G4S Telematix to enable fans to monitor the progress of each sailing team on the internet.
Israel-based Pointer Telocation says the tracking equipment will provide live coverage of the series of premier Mediterranean sailing races. It forms part of a long-standing partnership between the company and G4S Telematix, a Greek location-based services provider and part of G4S, a security services provider.
During the Aegean Rally, which takes place from 11-20 July, sailing fans will be able to follow the race position of each sailing team on the race’s official website (www.aegeanrally.gr).
Pointer Telocation claims that its products are installed in over 400,000 vehicles around the world, including the UK, Greece, Mexico, Argentina, Russia, Croatia, Germany, Czech Republic, Latvia, Turkey, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Costa Rica, Norway, Venezuela, Hungary, and Israel.
