Real-time road-traffic data supplier Cellint Traffic Solutions has won a contract from the Swedish Road Administration to extend its provision of traffic data in the region of Skåne in southern Sweden.
Cellint has been providing real-time road traffic information, based on data extracted from cellular networks, for the Swedish Road Administration since July 2007. Its TrafficSense system delivers road traffic data in the region of Skåne on highways and arterials, including city streets in Malmö and Lund, with its Swedish integration partner, Info24.
Swedish Road Administration has now decided to expand Cellint’s project to most of the main roads in the area.
Cellint claims this is the first cellular-based traffic monitoring project in Europe to be expanded by a European government agency.

“There are several companies in the market today, including GPS data aggregators and other cellular-based systems that are claiming to deliver real-time traffic data based on predicted traffic patterns,” says Ofer Avni, Cellint’s chief executive. “However, Cellint’s TrafficSense is the only non-intrusive floating car data (FCD) solution that already proved its capabilities to deliver accurate real-time data at independent evaluations in the US and in Europe, due to its patented technological superiority.”
