HNTB Corporation makes two senior appointments

HNTB Corporation has appointed Ken Hartmann as vice president and client service leader for the company’s largest client, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Hartmann is well-known to the transportation industry, having spent more than 30 years delivering infrastructure programs in Florida, with the bulk of his career at FDOT, where he was responsible for, or worked in, all aspects of design and construction, including project management, cost estimating and quality control.
As FDOT secretary for District Seven (West Central Florida) from 1998 to 2005, he managed a US$1bn annual program and a staff of 700. HNTB currently serves as general engineering consultant for FDOT Districts One, Three, Five and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, which covers the entire lifetime of highway, toll road, rail/transit, major bridges and many other types of projects. “We are honored that a professional of Ken’s impressive standing has chosen to join our firm,” said Adrian Share, senior vice president and Florida district leader at HNTB. “His legacy and understanding of FDOT across the state will further our partnership with this client and assist in our growth plans over the coming years.” Hartmann will be located in HNTB’s Tampa office.
HNTB has also named Todd Rothermel, a vice president based in its Parsippany, New Jersey office, as its new technology practice leader for the Northeast Division. In his new role, Rothermel will apply his technical focus in enterprise asset management, geospatial and mobile solutions to program management and project oversight for technology services clients. An experienced program manager, he is currently advising the New Jersey Turnpike Authority with an enterprise-wide traffic management and control system to support its long-term strategic plan. Prior to joining HNTB in 2009, Rothermel’s professional experience included work with Bentley Systems, Sedona Geoservices Inc, General Electric and Piper Aircraft. “Todd’s extensive experience in developing and implementing successful technology solutions for highway, rail and transit system owners is highly valued,” said Michael Sweeney, chairman of professional services for HNTB. “At a time of shrinking revenues, federal mandates and natural disasters, he is helping our clients implement enterprise-wide technology solutions to enhance operations and improve communications with customers.”
