Former IBM Smart Cities head joins Streetline

Leading ‘smart parking’ systems developer, Streetline, has announced that Gerard Mooney, the former head of IBM’s Smart Cities division, has joined its board of advisors. Mooney brings to the company significant experience in the transportation and software industries and has recently served as the vice president of strategy for IBM’s public sector. He has also served as the general manager of IBM’s Global Smarter Cities division and as the general manager of its Global Government and Education unit. Before joining IBM, Mooney held various management positions at Hewlett-Packard. He is actively involved in the intelligent transportation market and previously served as a member of the board of directors of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America. Mooney holds degrees from Mount Saint Mary’s College, Georgetown University and from Yale University.

Announcing Mooney’s appointment, Zia Yusuf, president and CEO of Streetline, said, “Gerry brings deep industry knowledge in intelligent transportation, smart city solution and software. We are thrilled he has joined our board of advisors. We look forward to leveraging his extensive experience as we further expand our smart parking footprint around the globe and fulfill our mission to make smart cities a reality through the use of sensor-enabled mobile and web applications.” Mooney commented, “Streetline has experienced tremendous growth over the last several years and has clearly emerged as a leader in smart parking, and more broadly, as a key player in instrumenting smart cities. As the company looks to expand, particularly in Europe and Latin America, I look forward to sharing my insights and experience.” Mooney was elected to Iteris’ board of directors in December 2013.
