MapMyIndia, which is the country’s leading manufacturer of GPS and navigation devices, has launched a new GPS system; the Car Pad 5. The new device is unusual as it is an ‘all-in-one’ GPS navigator, smartphone and 3G tablet, which runs on a 1GHz Samsung processor using the Android operating system, with built-in 3G & Wi-Fi and a 12.7cm (5in) capacitive touch screen. The new navigation device is pre-loaded with Aura, the company’s latest, fully 3D and connected GPS navigation interface. The device is built around the company’s award-winning Aura maps, which have not only been rated as the most accurate and comprehensive digital maps of India, but also offer real-time traffic updates, house level search, track and trace security, and live retail discount offers.
The Aura map system covers over 6.3 million places, 5,79,000 towns and villages, 4,000 cities at street-level, house-level data for 36 cities and 3D landmarks and building footprints for 34 major cities. All the maps are loaded on to the new device, making it independent of the network. Launching the new product, Rakesh Verma, MapmyIndia’s managing director, said, “After the success of our original CarPad model, which endorsed the company’s view that that there is a strong demand for in-car productivity gadgets, we present the next-generation CarPad 5 to Indian consumers. We have always strived towards making car travel convenient, comfortable and productive. The CarPad 5 is one of the many in-car productivity systems we plan to launch in the near future.”
