TrafficTech awarded by Jordan's Ministry of Public Works and Housing

The Jordanian division of the Traffic Tech Group (TTJ) has announced that it has received the 2010 Ministry of Public Works and Housing (MPWH) Electromechanical Contractor of the Year Award. The company has won the award for the design, supply, installation, operation and maintenance of Amman’s Central Traffic Management System (CTMS). It was presented by Jordan’s Minister of Public Works & Housing, Yahia Al- Kasbi, to Husam Musharbash, president and CEO of the Traffic Tech Group.

The project included the implementation of the Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) connecting 96 intersections, installation of 1,200 inductive loop detectors, and installation of 58 pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) dome cameras at critical intersections for real-time traffic surveillance and monitoring. In addition, a control room has been equipped to manage all operations centrally, with plans to turn the building into a fully fledged transportation control center in the future. The project has also scooped awards from the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and at the 2009 Gulf Traffic Conference.

The Jordanian Construction Contractors Association (JCCA) has congratulated Traffic Tech Group for receiving the prestigious award through a letter issued by its president, Ahmad Yousef Al Tarawneh. “The Amman Central Traffic Management System clearly represents a work carried out with the highest level of efficiency,” he wrote. “We hope that this distinction would be an example to the rest of our colleagues in the industry.”

“We are honored to be recognized by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing with this award,” commented Musharbash. “As we continue to expand our operations throughout the Middle East and GCC, we will aim to deliver similar advanced ITS technologies to be part of our region’s pursuit for global excellence in traffic and transportation infrastructure.”
