TRMI Systems Integration has been awarded a US$1.9 million contract to replace the automatic vehicle identification (AVI) system at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Under the contract, TRMI will develop and install an all-new ground transportation system to collect and process data from over 9,500 daily vehicle trips to the airport. The data will be used to invoice commercial vehicle operators and to monitor commercial vehicle traffic. The system will count all vehicles in and out of the central terminal area and provide a website where commercial vehicle operators will be able to view and manage their accounts.
‘’This project allows us to bring state-of-the-art equipment and sophisticated custom programming to LAX,” said Jose Correa, project manager. “This is a substantial upgrade with a variety of ease-of-use features for both the airport and its commercial vehicle operators.”
The new system will also enable the airport to achieve compliance with State of California interoperability standards. TRMI will accomplish this with the introduction of Sirit AVI teaders and Title 21 transponders, which will replace the 20K ATA transponders currently in use.
