Inrix has announced that its Traffic! Pro application has won a ‘Best of Show’ award at the MacWorld 2010 Expo and has just become the leading navigation app on the Apple App Store website. MacWorld editors chose the 11 most interesting products at the show out of hundreds of new Mac, iPhone, and iPod hardware, software and accessory products.
Traffic! Pro is the first app designed specifically to help commuters reduce the amount of time they waste every day stuck in traffic. It is designed to take the guesswork out of when to leave or how long it will take to get to a destination and will provide the fastest routes, travel times and ETAs for a driver’s most frequent destinations.
Through Inrix’s partnership with ClearChannel’s Total Traffic Network, commuters can access specific details for accidents, construction and other incidents. The system also uses nationwide network of over 10,000 traffic cameras that allows commuters to see firsthand how traffic and weather conditions are impacting on local drive times.
The application combines real-time, ‘crowd-sourced’ traffic information from more than 1.5 million vehicles and mobile devices with insight from hundreds of public and private sources in order to deliver highly accurate real-time traffic information and traffic forecasts. The system covers more than 418,000km (260,000 miles) of roadways across the USA and Canada.
Inrix has also announced that it will release its Annual Tra
ffic Scorecard on February 23, which will provide a definitive report on the state of traffic congestion on the USA’s roads. The report ranks the USA’s Top 100 Most Congested Cities, The Top Ten traffic bottlenecks nationwide and helps provide an insight into how traffic conditions can give an indication of the health of the country’s economy.
