The Miami, Florida-based traffic safety specialist Luna Road LLC has informed TrafficTechnologyToday.com that its LED Luna Road Light (LR-40 Optimus Series) road studs have successfully been deployed on the Coastal Beltway (also known as the Conta Costera) in a recently completed project in Panama City.
Traffic jams are a part of daily life for the Panamanian motorist, and every day it gets harder to move freely around the streets of Panama City, in which there are 330,000 vehicles of the 640,000 total in the entire country. Each morning, hundreds of thousands of commuters come downtown to work or study and leave out as sunset approaches: these are the peak hours – a travel pattern that puts strong pressure on the city's capacity to deal with such a high volume of vehicles. The Coastal Beltway is intended to help relieve congestion on the road network of Panama City by providing a bypass route past the city, helping to distribute traffic more efficiently by accepting the brunt of around 72,000 vehicles from other avenues.
Drivers on this new road now experience the red-colored steady LEDs emitted from the Luna Road Light technology, which serves to provide added night-time road safety by increasing the road distance visibility, while at the same time helping to create a higher level of discipline for drivers to maintain position in their respective lanes.
The Luna Road lights also contribute to energy-savings, as each Luna Road Light harnesses the power of the sun during the daytime in order to be energized to illuminate with energy-efficient LEDs, guiding the way for miles and miles ahead during the night time.
“Many people are amazed at the beneficial and uplifting effect of the Luna Road Light technology,” comments a source at Luna Road.
