CS wins Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Penetration for its ETC projects

Research organization, Frost & Sullivan, has presented French turnkey systems integrator, CS, with the 2009 European Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Penetration Leadership for its work in the electronic toll collection (ETC) market. Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to a company that has demonstrated excellence in capturing the fastest measured rate of change of market share within its industry.

The awards team has noted CS’s involvement in several major ETC projects, including: the consortium that developed the first suburban ETC system for the ring road of Dublin, Ireland; design and supply of a turnkey toll collection system for the A6 highway section in Croatia through its subsidiary ECSAT; completion of a large and complex closed tolling project mixed with urban road and standard tolling system on the South Bay Expressway in San Diego, California; and the design and supply of a turnkey free-flow system on the Golden Ears Bridge in Vancouver, Canada. In addition, the company is currently developing a cutting-edge onboard unit (OBU) for satellite tolling with enhanced power saving capability. CS is also working to use the enhanced GPS technology called EGNOS, developed by ESA, and has contributed to the new Truck Charging System in France.

“CS demonstrates dedication and a strong determination to establish itself as a key road-user charging provider, which has resulted in it becoming one of the leading participants in the intelligent transport systems market,” explains Frost & Sullivan research analyst, Harish Baskar. “One of the first companies to introduce tolling solutions, the company also has the advantage of a very strong global presence.”
