Pelco has announced the integration between its IP video security products and the Omnicast video surveillance system by Genetec. Several Pelco IP products, including the Camclosure IP, IP3701 Spectra IV IP and Spectra Mini IP and Sarix megapixel camera series, are now supported by the latest 4.5 version of Omnicast. This provides additional system design flexibility and an easier transition for customers to migrate their systems from analog to IP. Genetec is also an OV Ready Integration Partner; therefore, Omnicast now supports Sarix OV Ready camera capabilities.
The recently released 4.5 version of Omnicast now supports ObjectVideo OnBoard using OV Ready, and video analytics setup is simplified as the configuration of rules can now be done directly using the client interface. Analytics events sent by the camera to Omnicast, can be managed to make the system react based on their classification, such as motion detection, object removed, camera tampering and loitering. Based on the type of event, the system can be programmed with specific actions, such as generating an alarm to a group of users, displaying the video to specific operators, or providing a procedure for handling the particular event. These events are also stored by Omnicast and users can conduct after-the-fact investigations, searching based on type of event through Genetec's Archive Player. Currently, the supported video units with ObjectVideo Ready capabilities are Pelco’s IXE20DN and IXE20C.
“When two leading firms come together like this to integrate their solutions, it is our customers who win,” says Francis Lachance, product manager at Genetec for Omnicast. “Working with Pelco towards product compatibility stays in line with our focus to continually offer our customers more choices.”
Terry Carver, Pelco’s API business development manager, says, “Our collaboration with Genetec demonstrates the Pelco commitment to be a true Open Systems Provider. We are now able to offer flexible, reliable and scalable feature-rich integrated security solutions to our mutual customers.”
