Global Traffic Technologies (GTT) has introduced its first LED infrared emitter for use with the company’s Opticom Infrared System.
The system allows priority at traffic light-controlled intersections for police or emergency vehicles, and is designed to improve traffic safety, while lowering the overall emergency response time by an average of 20%. A coding capability reduces the risk of unauthorized users, while providing vehicle tracking and reporting capabilities. The system is also used to assist the movement of mass transit vehicles through signal-controlled intersections for an improved on-schedule service.
The new Series 795H Low-Profile Emitter reduces power consumption by more than 80% compared to previous infrared models, which allows customers more flexibility in outfitting their vehicles with other electronic equipment. Designed for low-profile lightbars on police cars and other emergency vehicles, the use of LEDs offers greater longevity compared with conventional incandescent strobe emitters.
